Photography is my calling.
Photography is my calling.
We had such a good time when we first went to the Aquarium in Newport that we really wanted to go again. Kim asked if I would like to go back on my birthday and of course I wasn't going to say no!
This is JoJo, the only pelican at the aquarium. Unfortunately she is not able to be set free in the wild because she can't fend for herself. The staff really love her and take good care of her though. She was so funny and even bowed at us! Kim really wanted to see her because pelicans are her favorite bird. The puffins are my favorite!
Some of these pics below are from our first trip mixed in!
Took Kim to the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport for her birthday the other day! She loved everything there but her favorite was the "passages of the deep" tunnel with all the marine life swimming overhead. It was a fun day with lots of interesting things to see.
I'm not that big on celebrating my birthday but not Kim! She loves to do surprises like all when she ran into the store while I waited in the car to buy me a bunch of balloons for my birthday. I had no idea what she was going in there for. She played me really good!
She is really a breath of fresh air and it's so cool hanging out with her. A lot of the life we have here on the coast she's never seen before. She was born in Indiana but raised in Chicago and from there she lived in Atlanta and then Florida so she was more of a mall, Macy's type of girl! Think of the show, Green Acres and you'll understand! But she really has adapted to living here and in fact she's told me many times how much she loves it here.
Since the deep is her favorite, I made sure we spent the bulk of our time there although I admit I love the puffins too!
Had to include the pic of those balloons she bought me! ha ha!
Between doing shows, selling online, spending time on social media, there has to be time for enjoying the surroundings. Kim and I took time off yesterday to drive up the coast. Then it's back to work to prepare for the next event we're in which is next month's Indoor Yard Sale. The opening pic is Yaquina Lighthouse in Newport, Oregon. It's one of our favorite places to visit. We took a tour of the lighthouse as well as going down to the beach area.
We've also hiked up the trail all the way to the top and while in Newport, we had to go to the port to see the sea lions up close and personal.
I always like to venture down to Cobblestone Beach right down from the lighthouse.
Kim and I ended the day at Cooks Chasm in the Cape Perpetua area overlooking Thor's Well. I had to fight the rain and a short hail storm but it was worth it to capture this! We enjoyed a little picnic lunch and had a relaxing drive home.
